2023 Summer Camp Schedule

June 5-9

 

Urban Cottage Forest School (9:30am - noon) 

June 5 (also June 12, 19 & 26) - 3yrs-5th grade ($75 or $250 for all four dates)

We’ll learn all about grasses, bamboo and palm trees as we discuss how ancient and modern cultures use natural materials including grass, jute and bamboo to create functional and artistic items. Students will learn timeless techniques in weaving, sewing and knot tying

 

Biology Camp - Sharks (12:30 - 3:20pm)

June 5 (also June 12, 19 & 26) - 3yrs-5th grade ($75 or $250 for all four dates)

Sharks - Chomp, chomp! Come join us as we explore the fantastic world of

sharks. We’ll learn about the anatomy, life cycle and other important features of sharks using hands-on activities. Students will utilize real data to map the migration of shark populations and learn about efforts to conserve and protect shark populations worldwide.

 

Montessori Camp (9:30am - noon)

June 6-8, 3yrs-5th grade ($200)

Are you interested in Montessori? We invite you to join us this summer for our Montessori camp. Our environment is designed to meet your child's holistic development. We will focus on gross/fine motor development, independence, sensory work, practical life skills, math, reading, and writing skills. Your child will have opportunities for collaborative work and hands-on experience that supports focus and concentration. We look forward to helping your child become a lifelong learner.

 

The Science and Math of Meteorology (12:30 - 3:20pm) 

June 6-8  1st grade+  ($200)

Calling all weather enthusiasts! Join the fun as we learn about thunderstorms, tornados, hurricanes and blizzards. Students will learn about extreme weather events, the physical processes that drive them and the math that helps us forecast them! 

 

Science Experiments (12:30 - 3:20pm)

June 9 (also June 16, 23 & 30) 1st grade+  ($75 or $250 for all four weeks)

This camp will give students the hands-on opportunity they have craved to explore concepts like density, viscosity, light refraction and pH. We’ll learn about the scientific method and then implement every step as we hypothesize, measure, mix, observe and document our results. Your budding scientist won’t want to miss this.

 

June 12-16

Biology Camp  – Birds (12:30 - 3:20pm)

June 12 (also June 5, 19 & 26) - 3yrs-5th grade ($75 or $250 for all four dates)

From hummingbirds to ostriches and everything in between, this camp is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about the world of ornithology. We’ll explore the colors, feathers, diets and behavioral habits of birds from around the world.

 

Magic Tree House Literacy (9:30am - Noon)

June 13-15  K-3rd  ($200)

This camp will be focused on building literacy skills like phonics and decoding, comprehension, cursive writing and more using themes and activities from the Magic Tree House series!

 

The Science and Math of Animal Migrations (12:30 - 3:20pm)

June 13-15  1st grade+ ($200)

This camp will take us on a wild adventure as we track the movements of penguins, blue whales, wildebeest and more animals who migrate vast distances across the planet. This is the perfect blend of math and science for every animal lover!

 

Science Experiments (12:30 - 3:20pm) 

June 16 (also June 9, 23 & 30) 1st grade+  ($75 or $250 for all four weeks)

This camp will offer students a hands-on exploration of the changing states of matter and how temperature, pressure and density affect it!

 
June 19-23

June 19 (also June 5, 12 & 26) - 3yrs-5th grade ($75 or $250 for all four dates)

This camp will explore the incredible world of reptiles. We’ll learn about the habitats, dietary habits and body features of snakes, lizards, alligators, crocodiles and other reptilian favorites!

 

The Art of Sketching (9:30am - Noon)

June 20-22  Kindergarden+  ($200) 

Do you have a child who loves everything art? Then this sketch camp is perfect your budding artist! While learning the perfect way to use shading and blending techniques in their drawings they will also learn to draw 3 dimensional sketches that will truly make their pictures come to life!

All About Africa (12:30 - 3:20pm)

June 20-23  Kindergarden+ ($200)

We invite you to join us this summer as we explore the beauty of Africa’s 54 independent countries that are rich in culture, traditions, and history. Africa’s geographic beauty ranges from vast deserts, to grasslands, rugged mountains, and tropical rain forests. We will learn about different physical features, experience the styles of music, dance, African folktales and treat our taste buds to delicious food. *Thursday will contain most food allergens. Please let us know if your child can not attend that day due to food allergies*

 

Science Experiments (12:30 - 3:20pm) 

June 23 (also June 6, 16 & 30) 1st grade+  ($75 or $250 for all four weeks)

We’ll spend the afternoon learning about the capillary effect, color mixing and density. Your budding scientist won’t want to miss this afternoon of messy fun!

 

June 26-30

Biology Camp - Insects (12:30 - 3:20pm)

June 26 (also June 5, 12 & 19) - 3yrs-5th grade ($75 or $250 for all four dates)

Join us for an afternoon of creepy, crawly fun as we learn about insects! We’ll learn all about the habits, habitats and adaptations that help these small but important creatures thrive all over the world.

 

Magical Literacy (9:30am - Noon)

June 27-29  3rd grade+ ($200)

This camp will be focused on building literacy skills like phonics and decoding, comprehension, cursive writing and more using themes and activities from the Harry Potter series!

 

The Science and Math of Outer Space (12:30 - 3:20pm)

June 27-29  3rd grade+ ($200) 

This camp takes students on a three-day math and science themed trip through the Milky Way. We’ll learn about solar flares, giant storms on Jupiter, the fantastically strange moons of Saturn and the many mysteries found in the Kuiper belt. We’ll use artwork, satellite imagery and data from Hubble Space Telescope to bring to life some of the most fascinating parts of outer space.

Science Experiments (12:30 - 3:20pm) 

June 30 (also June 6, 16 & 23) 1st grade+  ($75 or $250 for all four weeks)

Join us bubble lab! We’ll learn how bubbles form and what makes them burst. We’ll explore the ways light reflects off of bubbles and how various substances can be combined to create bubbles with greater surface tension.
